Blue Sapphire Tumbles

from $7.00

Blue sapphire has been a widely recognized gemstone from the southwest of Pailin Province, specifically the Phnum Yat volcano. It is considered to be a rarity to gem traders. Unfortunately, in the 19th century, Burmese merchants exploited these resources, and by the 1970s, the Khmer Rouge had depleted the sapphire mines to fund their activities, leading to the term "blood gemstones."

Today, while these sapphires are no longer available from the Pailin province of Cambodia, you have the opportunity to own a piece of this rare gemstone, ethically sourced from India. By purchasing this blue sapphire tumble, you are supporting the ongoing work of Save Cambodia. Your purchase helps us continue our vital advocacy and preservation efforts to give voice to the people.
