While Cambodia's CLV withdrawal is welcome news, two major unresolved issues remain. First, despite you and Senate President Hun Sen recognizing the validity of the protestors’ concerns, those who spoke out are still imprisoned and face prosecution for defending Cambodia’s sovereignty and workers’ rights. They must be released and legal actions against them stopped.
Second, land evictions and concessions to foreign interests, such as China for a major naval military base in Sihanoukville, along with ongoing land concessions to foreign governments in Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, and Mondulkiri are the type of foreign intrusion on Cambodia’s territorial integrity that you and your father acknowledged to be improper. The government must stop these major land and territorial concessions that cede its territorial integrity and sovereignty and are a direct violation of the Paris Peace Accords' provisions.
