ABOUT SAVE CAMBODIA

Who we are and what we stand for

Our Mission

Many Cambodians struggle with the need for unity and self-empowerment. Save Cambodia guides Cambodians to strengthen relationships within the national and international community so they can develop the tools and strategies to start

Our Difference

Save Cambodia is the first organization to successfully advocate in favor of the Cambodian community at the highest international level.

CONNECTIONS

Over the last 10 years, we've built strong, strategic partnerships with the United Nations, that have the right to intervene in Cambodian government affairs, key policymakers and other ECOSOC members to drive an even bigger impact.

PROCESSES

With an NGO in special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2018, we understand best practices on monitoring and reporting mechanisms, developing and implementing action plans, and providing recommendations to key policymakers.

RESOURCES

Our team of advocates drives our mission forward by combining a unique understanding of the Cambodian community with a passion for human rights and specialized legal expertise.

Why Save Cambodia?

We are challenging the meaning of the word “save.” Our organization works to alter ideas of dependency by encouraging Cambodians to not depend on one individual or group to be their savior - but instead, rely on themselves and one another to create powerful change.

With an unmatched track record of successfully advocating for human rights, our founder leads with the sole purpose of uplifting her community.

Thayvie Sinn harnesses her Cambodian heritage with her experience in Western culture to build stronger international relationships, unite the community and inspire powerful change. For over ten years, she has garnered expertise in advocacy by serving as the UN main representative to Global Education Motivators, an organizer for the UN ECE Regional Review Forum NGO Committee of the Status of Women Beijing +20, co-facilitator, chair and co-chair of the Civil Society Forum for the UN NGO Social Development and have spoken on youth and education panels.

“As a former journalist and current community activist, I've always been inspired by the idea of being a voice for the voiceless. Save Cambodia embodies this by not only bringing Cambodia's struggles in terms of human rights, democracy, and social injustices to the global stage but also instilling hope in Khmer people for a better future. The commitment, engagement, and empowerment of Cambodian youths in Save Cambodia's leadership are particularly inspiring.”

What People In Cambodia Are Saying

  • "For the first time, I feel like my voice matters. They don't just tell me that there is hope; they show me the way. They are authentic and dedicated, not playing games or manipulating. It's real change they're after."

    — Siem Reap Province

  • “I have been following Save Cambodia’s work for a while. They work with complete love and honesty for everyone, regardless of who they are or which side they are on. The entire staff is genuine and doesn't seek positions, titles, or recognition. Their activities are always carefully planned with consideration for everyone, never small projects, always something with a big impact. They collaborate with the UN and large institutions and never settle for something small.”

    — Battambang Province

  • "They cannot be bought. They stand strong in the principles and values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law for the people and country."

    — Phnom Penh

  • “I had lost all hope for Cambodia, and my trust in all groups was gone. However, I have been following Save Cambodia, and they consistently show the true path of hope without lying, cheating, or stealing. They provide strong hope for everyone, and I genuinely believe positive change will happen.”

    — Phnom Penh

  • “No more voice for us. No more hope. Without Save Cambodia, this is the end.”

    — Ratanakiri Province

  • "We lost all trust and hope in all groups now in-country. But, Save Cambodia has been able to change my mind. They are the only group that has ever had a clear vision and a path toward real democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. They are quiet and never show off, but they demonstrate strong results. They are always ahead and proactive, never just reacting."

    — Phnom Penh

  • “Save Cambodia is different from other organizations because they don’t seek money from the people. They never ask or beg for money. They work with very little and spend very little for big return. They never waste resources and can maximize success for the country and its people.”

    — Takeo Province

“Save Cambodia is firm in their values, ensuring that no political party or external interference affects its commitment to democracy, human rights, and freedom in Cambodia. Despite being small, they stand strong and firm, not allowing anyone to use or manipulate them. These strong values matter a lot to the Cambodian people and its victims. Save Cambodia is considerate and always pays attention to victims' needs, works diligently to raise awareness about the issues and ensure their voices are heard.”
